Metal Chip Briquetting Press

Enerpat professional briquetting machines and systems can pressing various types and shapes of metal scraps into round briquettes, with different output sizes available. We solve metal scrap recycling challenges for everyone from small businesses to large industrial workshops, directly increasing their recycling value.

What Are Metal Chip Briquetting Machines?

Metal chips briquetting machines primarily process loose and messy metal scraps. They use strong internal pressure to press them into compact, regular round or square briquettes without the need for any adhesives, and can efficiently separate any attached cutting oil, thus achieving convenient, environmentally friendly, and high-value recycling.

These machines differ significantly from wood chip or other ordinary briquetting press. They rely on sufficient hydraulic pressure to press high-hardness, high-resilience metals, also place higher demands on the hydraulic system, mold strength, and wear resistance; otherwise, the machine is prone to severe wear. In short, these are truly industrial-grade machines and a crucial link in modern metal chips recycling processes. They transform previously difficult-to-collect, low-value loose waste into more manageable, higher-value, high-density briquettes.

Enerpat Briquetting Presses are Suitable for Various Metal Chips

Different types of metal chips have significantly different hardness. For example, steel and stainless steel have high hardness and toughness, and are prone to wear on the pressing cavity. Secondly, the shapes also include shavings, curls, springs, needles, granules, powders, etc., which are completely different in terms of flowability, bulk density, and pressing performance.

Our machines have undergone extensive pressing tests on these common metal chip types and shapes, and their briquettes density, edge integrity, and drop resistance all meet recycling and smelting standards.

  • Iron chips briquettes

Iron chips come in various forms, including curled and powdery. They are easy to shape and suitable for briquetting and recycling.

  • aluminum chips briquettes

Aluminum chips are highly ductile and lightweight, including both shavings and granules. They require relatively low pressing force, and briquettes solve space and transportation issues.

  • Steel chips briquettes

Higher hardness and toughness, including shavings, long rolls, or spirals, and will easily loosen if the pressing force is insufficient.

  • copper chips briquettes

Copper chips are commonly found in powder, shaving, and filament, and have high material value. It needs to be tightly molded to ensure its recycling value.

  • alloy chips briquettes
    Alloy Chips

Alloy chips vary in shape and hardness. For example, high-temperature alloy chips have high hardness and elasticity, which places higher demands on the heat resistance of the materials and the cooling system.

Solve Annoying Metal Chips

Loose metal chips are a common challenge in machining workshops because they occupy a large amount of storage space. Whether steel shavings, iron chips, or aluminum chips, they are all very loose and come in various shapes, making the workshop cluttered and messy. Due to their low bulk density, they occupy more volume, increasing transportation costs and making loading and unloading less efficient. Many scraps contain cutting fluid, which can pollute the environment and cause waste. They can also create safety hazards, for example, steel shavings can cause cuts during manual handling, while residual oil or cutting fluid dripping onto the floor can create slip hazards.

After being pressed by a hydraulic briquetting machine, metal chips can be reduced in volume by up to 90%, making the workshop cleaner and tidier, and simplifying storage and transportation. Recycling cutting fluid allows for reuse, saving a significant amount of money. Cleaner, high-density metal briquettes increase recycling value by 20-30% and make subsequent remelting more efficient.

Metal Chips Briquetting Systems

metal chips briquetting system
metal chip briquetting machine

Metal scrap produced in different industrial workshops may have varying oil content and complex forms. Some are short, granular aluminum chips, some are clumps of tangled steel chips, and some are wet chips containing a large amount of cutting fluid. To facilitate the pressing into high-quality briquettes, they are often used in combination with other equipment such as shredders and deoilers.

A complete metal chips briquetting system mainly consists of several core components: crushing, conveying, de-oiling, and briquetting. First, the loose, tangled scraps are processed into suitable sizes by a shredder, then conveyed to a de-oiling machine to recover a large amount of cutting fluid beforehand, and finally conveyed to a briquetting machine to be pressed into high-density briquettes. The entire system is fully automated, requiring no manual feeding or handling. Enerpat can flexibly customize production line systems based on the customer’s materials characteristics, production capacity, and workshop layout.

  • Short, clean metal chips with stable output can be fed directly into a briquetting press
  • For scraps that are tangled, curled, or clumped together, it is recommended to crush them first.
  • For high oil content, it is recommended to add an oil removal and liquid collection system.
  • For high output, it is recommended to build a complete briquetting production line system.

Applications and Industries

cnc machining workshop
automotive manufacturing workshop
  • CNC Machining Workshops: This is the industry where metal briquetting machines are most commonly used, producing scraps that cover almost all common engineering materials, including steel, iron, aluminum, copper, stainless steel, and more. Therefore, the types of materials that need to be pressing are quite complex, requiring high machine adaptability.
  • Automotive Parts Manufacturing: The machining of automotive parts generates aluminum alloy chips, cast iron chips, and steel chips in extremely large quantities, along with a significant amount of high-value cutting fluid. We recommend choosing a complete briquetting system, which offers a high return on investment.
  • 3C Product Casing Processing: The waste chips mainly consists of fine, thin fragments generated by high-speed milling, with a very high oil content and potentially a large amount of powder. Improving the de-oiling rate, thereby reducing environmental pollution and fines, is a key performance indicator.
  • Metal Recycling Centers: It collects aluminum chips, iron chips, steel shavings, copper chips, and mixed metal scraps from factories of all sizes. These scraps come from diverse sources, have inconsistent forms, and fluctuate oil content, requiring machines that are stable, durable, high output, and are highly adaptable to various environments.
  • Die Casting Factories: After die casting is formed, it needs to be trimmed, have its gates removed, and be polished, which generates a large amount of aluminum alloy chips, and shavings. Although these are relatively lightweight, they are bulky, take up a significant amount of space, and have low transportation efficiency.
  • Steel and Metal Processing Plants: The cutting and processing generate steel and iron chips, while the casting process produces oxide scale and some mixed chips. Machines with extremely high pressing force are required to ensure the density and forming effect of the briquettes.

Can I use a metal chips briquetting machines to press wood chips?

Not recommended, but it would be a huge waste of performance and extremely uneconomical. Their principles are significantly different: metal forms briquettes through its own deformation under sufficient pressure; while wood chips is bound together by fibers, and if the pressure is too high, it won’t form properly.

How much pressing force should I choose?

It depends on the material. Generally speaking, the higher the hardness and the more oddly shaped the materials, the higher the pressing force is required. For example, 50 tons is enough for granular aluminum chips. However, since the output briquettes vary in size, specific parameter selection requires recommendations from professional engineers. You can contact us.

What costs can be saved by briquetting metal chips?
  • After pressing, the total weight remains unchanged, but the volume is greatly reduced, directly saving logistics freight.
  • Most of the cutting fluid is recycled and can be reused after filtering, significantly reducing cutting fluid costs.
  • There is no need for additional manual cleaning and transportation of messy and dangerous metal scrap, which reduces labor costs.
  • Briquettes with low oil content, regular shape and high melting efficiency can be sold at a better price.
Can I send metal chip samples for briquetting testing?

Of course, you can send us any samples for briquetting testing and we will record the complete video. Or there is no need to send it, just specify the sample and we will test it.

Can your briquetting machine press hard or bulky tangled metal chips?

Under the hydraulic pressing force of hundreds or even thousands of tons, even high-strength alloy steel can be easily formed. The mold can withstand strong wear and tear, has a uniform shape, high density, and not easily damaged.

For curled, or bulky tangled metal scraps, we recommend crushing them into short chips first to solve the clogging problem.

What should be done if the machine encounters problems later?

Enerpat’s machines are reliable, efficient, durable and generally trouble-free. Our after-sales service includes online customers and technical engineers. We will give priority to solving your problems online remotely. If it cannot be solved, technical engineers will provide on-site support.
